I found my old neighborhood on Google Maps. Even a closeup of the house we used to live in! Ah, the good old days of sirens and police helicopters lighting up the night. Once, the police found a fugitive hiding in the bushes a couple of houses away. Another time, my mom lost track of me, and I got lost with my friend, Benjy Watson, on Olympic Blvd for a couple of hours. Luckily, a shop owner pulled us into his store and tracked down my mother. Still, there were a lot of great times in that house. I remember riding on the back of Minoru Chan’s bike, sitting on Ransford’s lap and hearing stories, having my mom’s friend feed me noodles like they were worms and I was her little baby bird. We played endless games of hide-seek-with the next door neighbors in the back yard, because we had the same landlord, and the fence between the properties had broken down.
I think I have posted the last picture before. It’s a photo of me and my next sister down, with an old friend, Calvin. I actually attended a couple of conferences in Switzerland given by his uncle, John, many years later. He spoke in German, and I listened to Spanish translation through headphones, because I had come with a group from Spain. Calvin’s cousin, Sharon is something else. I have seen her turn her head and speak fluent English, Chinese, then German to people in turn without taking a breath. Sorry, for the digression. :)
