He was a good friend of one of Isabella’s teachers, and we heard him speak three years ago. My parents even came with us. It was extremely moving to hear such a story firsthand. Mr. Leyson was a lovely man.

RIP: Don Cornelius, creator and host of the legendary musical variety show Soul Train, was found dead this morning of an apparent self-inflicted gun shot wound in his home in Sherman Oaks, California. He was 75.
Introducing many Americans to soul music through his hit TV show which premiered in 1971, Cornelius helped promote the careers of such musical icons as James Brown, Aretha Franklin, and Michael Jackson.
He is perhaps best remembered, even among non-viewers, for his signature catchphrase, with which he would end each show: “I’m Don Cornelius, and as always in parting, we wish you love, peace and soul!”

oh shit. damn. fuck. piss.
*sigh*
I am sad about this today. He always seemed so “zen”, but I guess TV is all about illusion.

Heavy D & The Boyz - Now That We Found Love (by Universal Music)
The Internet is just sad for me today.
RIP Mr. Heavy D. This track is on the walking playlist on my iPod … which I hear almost daily.
I think it’s time to go to bed before I get anymore bad news … check y’all tomorrow.
It’s not available for my country, but I love that song. Damn. I hadn’t heard. Have a good night.

Some pictures of the mural made in memory of Oscar Grant, who was wrongfully murdered by a BART officer while lying on his stomach, awaiting to be handcuffed. The officer who pulled the trigger, Johannes Mehserle, was sentenced to two years in prison, but was released after 11 months due to good behavior. There was no justice for this man and the events following the shooting are equally devastating crimes against humanity and make a mockery of the judicial system. RIP Oscar Grant.
